Of course, something has changed in the customer’s life that has motivated them to come to your shop and look at your wares.


What is it? What has changed? More importantly, how can you help the customer in their time of need?


Discovering what has changed in a customer’s life can help you understand what they require at that point. They may be looking at one thing to fill their need, however, you, with your expertise may be able to help them better.


You’ve seen customers come in with similar situations and similar requirements. Your suggestions have improved over time as you have gained feedback from your customers. Their feedback has resulted in you changing your suggestions and creating better options for specific customer needs.


Your aim through this question is to gain insight into the customer’s need and based on their response suggest valid options which can help the customer meet their needs.


You therefore can establish your expert power with the customer and ensure that the customer will return to you when they need more things. You can establish a repeat customer and gain multiple sales from the same customer based on how helpful your suggestions have been.
